How I know I'm out of touch with the younger generation

Today on the radio I heard Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend," and, just like the other times I've heard it, I felt shocked and embarrassed.

Sarah, I too am out of touch with the younger generation. They often shock and embarrass me. But, I just watched the video for "Girlfriend" on Youtube, and . . . what is it exactly about this song that bothers you? The line "in no time I'll have you wrapped around my finger 'cuz I can do it better" seemed like a possibility. Sure, "it" means sex, which seems fairly overt (although I seem to recall rocking out to "I want your sex" when I was in High School). More troubling is the idea that wrapping another human being around your finger is a value. But, I feel dense. I would much rather hear this one than "Hey There Delila," a song I would happily never hear again!
